Dr. Maiorano began her career over 22-years ago working in inpatient psychiatric and forensic facilities; later moving on to community settings involving the mental health care system and the judicial system.

 

Dr. Maiorano holds various licenses and certifications in her field:

  • Licensed as Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC); Board Certified Diplomat of Social Work (BCD); Certification for the practice as a Connecticut School Social Worker (CSSW); Certification for the practice as a Certified Co-Occurring Disorder Professional (CCDP-D); Certification as a Traumatic Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS); Certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She is certified with the Police Officer Standards and Training Council (POST) as a trainer and processes a Certificate of Knowledge in Forensic Social Work: Socio – Legal Practice by UCONN, School of Social Work. Dr. Maiorano completed her PhD in Public Safety Leadership, with a specialization in Criminal Justice and Human Behavior, at Capella University.

 

Through hands on experience and higher education, Dr. Maiorano has not only increased her clinical skills in the field but feels comfortable acting as a clinician, liaison, and consultant in most community settings, and is highly respected in both fields of discipline: Mental health and criminal justice. Dr. Maiorano is competent and proficient in assessing individuals with the following needs: Chronic and acute mental health; Chronic and acute substance use; Trauma; Traumatic brain injury; Co-occurring disorders.

 

Dr. Maiorano focuses on the Person-Centered Planning approach in treatment and is knowledgeable and trained in the following areas of individual and group treatment:

  • Trauma recovery groups; Traumatic brain injury; Veterans/military/police/fire/first responder/EMS needs; Chronic and acute mental health; Chronic and acute substance use; Solution Focused Therapy; Brief Treatment Therapy; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); Trauma Adaptive Recovery Group Education Therapy (TARGET); Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT); Motivational Interviewing (MI); Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR); Chronological Assessment of Suicide (CASE Approach); Listen – Empathize – Agree – Partner (LEAP Approach) .

 

Dr. Maiorano worked full-time for the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services for over 18-years.  She had worked for over 18-years as a Mobile Crisis Response Worker and within that over 12-years as a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) clinician: Assigned to local police municipalities as their clinician liaison; Riding along-with in police cars and working-with First Responders on a day-to-day basis. Lastly, Dr. Maiorano worked as a Mobile Crisis Response Worker Supervisor and Supervisor of an inpatient State respite Unit until she left the State of Connecticut jon in Sept. 2021: Allowing herself to focus on her true passion: TD Forensics. 

 

Dr. Maiorano was the co-leader, in her agency’s Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team for 15-years and The State of Connecticut Region Three Connecticut Disaster Behavioral Health Response Network (DBHRN) for 15-years.

 

Dr. Maiorano volunteers for many organizations as well:

  • Local and National Red Cross as a mental health supervisor; Local VA Programs/Initiatives; Local Brain Injury Association of CT.; Clinician, consultant, and facilitator for the Humanitarian Assistance Program (HAP); Southeastern region Trauma Recovery Network (TRN) leader and consultant; Active member and trainer with the Connecticut Alliance to Benefit Law Enforcement (CABLE); Law Enforcement Council (LEC) - teaching matters related to stress management, suicide assessment, and recognizing behavioral health, substance abuse, and trauma needs of individuals.

 

Dr. Maiorano worked part-time as a consultant, instructor, and individual therapist for Behavioral Health Consultants of Connecticut for many years: Working specifically with EMS workers, first responders, fire, police, and their families. Also providing and working as a First Responder Employee Assistance Program (EAP) clinician.

 

Finally, Dr. Maiorano is the owner and founder of TD Forensics, LLC. This is where she states her passion for training, consulting with, and treating First Responders and Health Care Clinicians lies.

 

Dr. Maiorano lives in Connecticut and enjoys spending time in the outdoors of New England and traveling to new places all over the world.
